September 8, 2016 By

sriracha-burger-v

If you are a sriracha lover, then this burger you want to bring to your next tailgate event. A juicy sriracha and scallion flavored burger on a toasted sesame bun slathered with sriracha burger dressing and topped off with a sriracha spiced slaw.

All sriracha measurements are merely suggestions. Enough said. 🙂

Author: Jeff Parker
Recipe type: Direct heat
Serves: 4 to 6

Ingredients
  • 1½ pounds ground chuck
  • 3 tablespoons sriracha
  • 1 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 scallions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • Kosher Salt and Freshly ground black pepper, for grilling
  • Toasted sesame buns
  • Lettuce, tomatoes, etc.
  •  -
  • For sriracha dressing:
  • 1 cup good-quality mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 2 teaspoon unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 scallions, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  •  -
  • For slaw:
  • 3 cups cole slaw mix
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha dressing (recipe above)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1½ teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
Instructions
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, thoroughly mix the ground chuck, sriracha, soy sauce, scallions and garlic. Divide the mixture into four to six equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns. Place on a sheet pan and refrigerate while you prepare the dressing and slaw.
  2. For sriracha dressing: whisk together the mayo, sriracha, vinegar, scallion and salt. Set aside in refrigerator until ready to serve.
  3. For the slaw: toss together the slaw mix and cilantro in a bowl. Stir together the sriracha dressing, lemon juice, honey, vinegar, and salt. Pour over slaw mix and toss until well combined. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  4. Prepare your grill for direct cooking over high heat. Brush and oil the grate before you begin cooking. Season the burgers liberally with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the burgers on the preheated grill and cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side. Remove burgers from grill and place the buns cut side down on the grill for 1 minute or so until toasted. Assemble burgers to your liking spread with sriracha dressing and topped with slaw.
  5. Note: when using store-bought beef, always cook burgers to an internal temperature of 165ºF.
